Getting a ticker on screen

1. Type a symbol in the box beside the title and press Load (or Enter). Up to 20 characters; letters, digits and . - ^ only.
2. The four panels load independently, so a failure in one does not block the others. The status line reports the result and says how many sections were unavailable.
3. The address bar updates to research.html?symbol=AAPL — bookmark or share it to reopen the same ticker. Opened without a symbol, the tab loads AAPL.

Reading the panels

• Delayed quote — last price and change against the previous close. The small print underneath is the part that matters: the source, when the price itself was stamped, when it was retrieved, and how many seconds old the cached copy is.
• Financial snapshot — revenue, net income, operating cash flow and diluted EPS, read from the company's XBRL data at SEC EDGAR. The line under each figure (Q2 2026 · 10-Q) tells you what it covers: a 10-Q value is a single quarter, a 10-K value a full year. Nothing is annualised for you.
• SEC filing timeline — the 20 most recent filings of every form type, newest first. Open goes to the document on sec.gov; the link beside the heading opens the company's EDGAR page.
• Recent news — headlines from the past 7 days, newest first, each linking out to the publisher.

Limitations worth knowing

• Filings and financials cover US SEC filers only. A symbol containing a dot (0700.HK) or starting with ^ is refused by those two panels; the quote panel still works for it.
• Prices are delayed and cached for up to an hour. Check the cache age before relying on one — this is not a feed for timing an execution.
• SEC data is cached too: the filing list for about an hour, XBRL financial facts for 24 hours. A filing that landed minutes ago may not be listed yet.
• The snapshot is the latest period only — no history, growth rates, margins, ratios or valuation multiples, and no balance-sheet items such as cash, debt or share count.
• XBRL tags differ between filers. Revenue is matched against a short list of standard tags, so a company reporting under a different one shows — even though the number exists in its filing. Where a period was later amended, the most recently filed value wins.
• News depends on a Finnhub key configured on the backend, is capped at 7 days and 30 stories, is cached for an hour, and covers non-US tickers thinly or not at all. Headlines are not filtered for relevance.
• Nothing here is saved to your account — one ticker at a time, no side-by-side comparison, no export, no notes.
• A first request after a quiet spell can fail outright. The backend sleeps when idle; press Load again and it normally succeeds.
• Sign-in is required — these endpoints reject anonymous callers.
